LIM BOON HEAN

Bar-at-Law (Middle Tempe)

Mr Lim Boon Hean was a former teacher for more than 16 years before he left the teaching profession to read law in United Kingdom 

He is a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, London.

He was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1981 and was in active practice from 1981 until his retirement in 2005.

Upon being called he practised as a Legal Assistant in a couple of legal firms in Kuala Lumpur. Thereafter he set up his own legal firm Messrs B.H.Lim & Co in 1985 as a sole proprietorship.

In the early years of practice he was involved in general civil litigation comprising of tort, contract and land matters.

Since the 1990’s  until his retirement in 2005 he was doing conveyancing vis-à-vis drafting contracts of various types, attending to loan documentation of banks and financial institutions and also advising and handling of sale and purchase of properties,

He is one of the co-founders of Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting.

He is now back in the firm as a Consultant.

FRANKLIN GOONTING, J.S.M

LL.B (Hons) S’pore 

Mr Goonting read law at the University of Singapore and graduated in 1968 with an LLB (Hons) degree.   Called to the Malaysian Bar on 23.12.1969, he was in active legal practice until June 2003.   He co-founded the legal firm of Lim Soh & Goonting in 1994 and headed its litigation department.   He left the firm in July 2003 upon his appointment as Chairman of the Industrial Court Malaysia.  He also served as Chairman of the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) Appeals Board,  Northern and Eastern Regions. On 30th June 2011, he was conferred the award Johan Setia Mahkota (J.S.M) by Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di Pertua Agong XIII.

 

Mr Goonting has given talks from time to time at seminars and international  conferences  organized by bodies like the Malaysian Trade Union Congress (MTUC),  the Malaysian Bar, the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF), the MECA Centre for Industrial Relations, the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) and the Institut Latihan Kehakiman dan Perundangan (ILKAP).

Upon his retirement as Chairman of the Industrial Court, he re-joined M/s. Lim Soh & Goonting on 2nd February 2012, as a Consultant.

On 19th March 2018, Mr. Goonting re-joined and served the Industrial Court on contract as a Task Force Chairman until 31st December 2019.

On 2nd January 2020, Mr. Goonting returned to M/s Lim Soh & Goonting as a Consultant.

WONG SU CHEN

LL.B (Hons) (HULL)

Ms Wong was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1994. She commenced practice in civil litigation until 1995 when she ceased practice to join the corporate world handling administrative and legal matters. She resumed legal practice in the year 2000 and her areas of practice include banking, conveyancing and commercial matters.

 

On 1st September 2024, Ms. Wong joined M/s Lim Soh & Goonting as a Consultant.

SOH SIEW CHIANG

LLB (Hons) Uni. Of Leeds; MBA. Uni. Of Malaya; CLP

 

Mr. Soh read law and obtained his LLB from the University of Leeds, England. He was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1994 and thereafter joined Messrs Choong Lim Low & Woo as a partner.  

Prior to reading Law, he graduated from University of Malaya in 1977 with the Bachelor of Arts. He also holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the same University.  

In May, 1978, he joined the Civil Service as an Assistant Director in the Enforcement Division of the Road Transport Department, Ministry of Transport.  

In 1981, he was awarded a scholarship to pursue a diploma course in System Analysis in the National Institute of Public Administration, Malaysia (INTAN) and on completion, he was appointed as a System Analyst in the Public Sector.  

The following year, he joined the elite Civil Service i.e. the Administrative and Diplomatic Services. He underwent a compulsory one year practical course in public administration and was conferred a post graduate diploma in Public Administration (Dip.P.A.).  

He also served in the Finance Division of the Treasury Ministry of Finance in 1987 where he was required to monitor all external loans taken by our Government namely loan secured from the World Bank (New York), Asian Development Bank (Manila) Islamic Development Bank (Jeddah) and bilateral loans from Japan and France.  

His last posting prior to his optional retirement in 1993 was to the Ministry of Law. He was assigned to the Policy Department of the Ministry. He assisted the department in the drafting of policy papers for the Ministry. He conducted legal research and prepared legal comments raised by the public. Among the topics on which he did research was the setting up of the Court of Appeal, Community Service and Alternative to Sentencing.

ROSEHAYATI YUSOF

LL.B (Hons) U.K.M ;DSLP IIU

Puan Rosehayati read law and obtained her LLB from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi (UKM). She was called to the Malaysian Bar in the year 1995 and thereafter joined Messrs Arbain Chandra & Chew as a Legal Assistant. She has been in active legal practice since then. In 1998 she set up her own firm known as Messrs Rosehayati & Co which later became a partnership firm known as Messrs Rosehayati Akmar & Co.

In 1997, she obtained a Diploma In Syariah Law and Practice at the Islamic International University (IIU). Due to her enthusiasm in education and having a motto of learning never ends, she decided to further her studies in Masters in Law, in UKM. Amongst the subjects that she specialized in are Labour Law, International Trade Finance, Law in International Technology (I.T.), Islamic Financial System and The Law of the Sea.

Her expertise lies in all aspects of Conveyancing matters, such as Sale and Purchase Agreements, Bank Loan Documentations, in drafting various types of Contracts, Joint Ventures Agreements, etc. She also has vast knowledge in litigation matters such as general recovery work, accident cases, bankruptcy and winding-up. She has attended Courts actively from Subordinate Courts up to the Courts of Appeal.

She is also competent to advise on all Syariah matters. She presently handles the firm’s conveyancing work.

TING HEA HONG 

LL.B (Hons) University Malaya

Mr. Ting obtained excellent results in STPM and admitted was into University Malaya to pursue the LLB course. During his secondary school years, he was very active in co-curriculum and had been appointed as Librarian, Monitor President, Society Secretary etc.

He underwent his pupillage-in-chambers under the guidance of Mr. Soh Siew Chiang. Having had this opportunity, he has been exposed to and gained vast exposure in various aspects of conveyancing and litigation.

He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 3 March 2005 and currently handles corporate and conveyancing work.

NOR ZIHAN KHAILA KAMAL

 LL.B (Hons) Uni.Teknologi MARA

 

Puan Nor Zihan Khaila read law at and obtained her LLB from University Technology of MARA, Shah Alam. She underwent her pupillage-in-chambers under the guidance of Mr. Franklin Goonting. During her pupillage, she was exposed to various aspects of civil litigation work consisting of preparation of cause papers, attending court on matters covering banking law, foreclosure, hire-purchase, general debt recovery matters, execution procedure, bankruptcy, companies winding-up, divorce, letters of administration/probate and land law. She was called to the Malaysian Bar on the 16th of May, 2002. In view of her positive outlook keen interest and dedication to her work she was retained as a legal assistant to handle litigation.  

In August, 2004 she was transferred to our Klang branch to oversee its litigation work. She has been sincere, loyal and diligent with this responsibility given to her.  

In August, 2009 with her good attitudes and vast experience in handling civil litigation she was appointed as a partner, managing and overseeing litigation work in our Klang Branch.

LAU KAI LEONG

LL.B. (Hons) University Malaya

 

Mr Lau graduated from the University of Malaya with LL.B. (Honours) in 2005. He was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2006 and commenced practice as a Legal Assistant in corporate and conveyancing division of Messrs Ferida Hassan Low & Ng and Messrs Tang & Lee before joining the firm.  

Throughout his practice, Mr Lau has been involved in a wide range of commercial, corporate and conveyancing transactions, including banking and corporate finance, real property, joint ventures, foreign investment in Malaysia, development projects, drafting of commercial contracts/agreements, advising on compliance with Malaysian law and practice that has included advising and assisting clients with relevant applications to various governmental / statutory bodies including the Foreign Investment Committee, the Ministry of International Trade & Industry and Economic Planning Unit.  

Mr Lau was admitted as a partner of the firm in July 2010. He maintains the level of service provided by the entire firm to ensure a standard befitting of Lim Soh & Goonting’s benchmark. The firm strongly upholds commitment to first class service and Mr Lau is responsible for ensuring that this philosophy is maintained.

DATO' CHAN FEI LOONG

LL.B (Hons) University Malaya

LLM , University Malaya

Dato’ Chan is attached to our Johor Bahru Branch. He is a graduate of the University of Malaya and he completed his pupilage under the guidance and tutelage of Mr. Soh Siew Chiang in April 2007 and was admitted and enrolled as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in the year 2007.

In the year 2005, he furthered his studies in the same University and obtained his Master of Law in year 2007. The areas of his research for his Masters Degree are mainly company law, security regulations, takeover and mergers.

Prior to joining our firm, he practised in Messrs Nora S.W. Law & Associates in its litigation department and thereafter in Messrs Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill in its corporate and conveyancing department.

Over the years, Dato’ Chan has been exposed to various commercial transactions which include drafting, negotiation, advising and handling of sales and purchase for both retail and commercial properties.

He has also been involved in housing and commercial loans, matters related to tenancy as well as real property and has extensive experience in advising some property developers and major financial institutions in Johor. He has also given several talks on development of housing industry laws to several property developers and NGOs in Johor.

Dato’ Chan was conferred the award of datoship by His Royal Highness the Sultan of Pahang on 6th March 2015.

His current practice also includes commercial advisory work on corporate, real estate and management, conventional and syariah compliance security documents for consumer, business and project financing.

TAM SEE MOI

 LL.B (Hons) University Malaya

Ms. Tam obtained her LL.B (Hons.) from the University of Malaya and completed her pupilage under Pn. Hafizah Binti Abu Samah in Messrs Thean & Co. She was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in March 2008 and commenced practice as a legal assistant in the conveyancing department of Messrs C.K. Yip & Co.

She has been exposed to and gained vast experience in many aspects of the general conveyancing law and practice including sale and purchase agreements, tenancy agreements and loan documentation.

Ms. Tam was admitted as a partner of the firm on 1st January 2015 and is currently based at our Head Office.

GOH HWEH CHEN

 LL.B (Hons) University Malaya

Miss Goh underwent  her pupillage-in-chambers under the guidance and tutelage of Mr. Soh Siew Chiang in June 2008. During her pupilage, she was exposed to and gained vast exposure in various aspects of conveyancing practice.  She was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 3rd April 2009.

Ms. Goh was admitted as a partner of the firm on 1st January 2015 and is currently based at our Melaka office.

LEE CHEE HWA

 LL.B (Hons) University Malaya

Mr. Lee underwent his pupillage-in-chambers under the guidance and tutelage of Mr. Choo Hong Kok in June 2008. During his pupilage, he was exposed to and has gained vast exposure in various aspects of conveyancing works. He was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 4th May 2009.

Mr. Lee was admitted as a partner of the firm on 1st January 2015 and is currently based at our Petaling Jaya office.

TO SHEY FEANG

LL.B (Hons) University Malaya

Miss To graduate from the Faculty of Law of University Malaya in the year 2009. She completed her pupilage under the guidance of Ms Chong Kur Sen of Messrs Abraham Ooi & Partners. During her period of pupilage, she was exposed to various areas of the law including conveyancing and litigation.

She involves herself in banking and general litigation since 2009. Her area of litigation practice includes, among others, banking law, landlord and tenant, debt recovery, sale of goods, trust and equity, hire purchase, foreclosure, bankruptcy law, family, contract, torts and land law. She joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting on 2012 and currently handles conveyancing work. She has been exposed to vast experience in many aspects of conveyancing law and practice including sale and purchase agreements, tenancy agreements, loan documentation and other agreements.

Ms To was admitted as a partner of the firm in 2015. She continues to maintain the level of service provided by the entire firm to ensure the best service of Lim Soh & Goonting is maintained.

TAN SAW BEE

LL.B (Hons) University Malaya

Miss Tan Saw Bee graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Malaya and underwent her pupillage-in-chambers in an established law firm in Kuala Lumpur. She was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2012.

During her pupillage, she was exposed to banking litigation and general conveyancing matters and subsequently retained as a Legal Assistant in the Conveyancing Department. She was in charge of corporate/SME banking, project financing and retail banking. Additionally, she also provided consultations for corporate and individual clients on a range of real estate transactions, sale and purchase of shares, legal due diligence, joint venture arrangement, tenancy and lease.

She is a member of the Conveyancing Practice Committee of the Malaysian Bar Council from year 2017 to 2020. She joined Messrs. Lim Soh & Goonting in 2020 and currently handles conveyancing portfolio. Ms. Tan was admitted as a partner of the firm on 1st January 2023 and is currently based at our Bukit Damansara office.

SIM TZE PEI (ANGEL)

LL.B (Hons) Multimedia University

Ms Sim obtained her Bachelor of Laws from Multimedia University in 2016. She underwent her pupillage-in-chambers under the guidance and tutelage of Mr. Chen Hean Tin in the chamber of Messrs Steven Tai, Wong & Partners where she was exposed to conveyancing matters. She was admitted and enrolled to the High Court of Malaya as an Advocate and Solicitor on on 04th August 2017.

She joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting on 4th September 2017 and currently handling conveyancing matters. Her areas of practice include banking, conveyancing and commercial matters. Ms. Sim was admitted as a partner of the firm on 1st January 2023 and is currently based at our Bukit Damansara office.

LIM WAN YIN

LL.B (Hons) Multimedia University

Miss Lim graduated with LLB from Multimedia University in 2014. She completed her pupillage under the guidance and tutelage of Mr. Ronald Gan of Messrs Gan Rao & Chuah where she was exposed to civil litigation matters. She was then admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 4 June 2015.

She commenced her legal practice with Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting on 1 July 2015 and is currently handling conveyancing matters. Ms. Lim was admitted as a partner of the firm on 1st February 2023 and is currently based at our Johor Bahru office.

SITI ZABEDAH BINTI HISHAMUDDIN

LL.B (Hons) UiTM

DLSA, UiTM

Puan Siti obtained her Bachelor of Laws from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). She was called to the Malaysian Bar and admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 23 February 2018.

She had completed her pupilage at Messrs Hisham, Sobri & Kadir under the guidance of Encik Mohd Shuhaimi Ismail where she assisted her Master in handling conveyancing matters for secondary sale transactions and Islamic loan financing.

Puan Siti joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting in April 2019 and currently handling conveyancing matters. Puan Siti was admitted as a partner of the firm on 1st February 2023 and is currently based at our Johor Bahru office.

PAN NOYK JUN

LL.B (Hons) Multimedia University

Ms Pan obtained her Bachelor of Laws from Multimedia University in 2018. She underwent her pupillage under the guidance and tutelage of Dato' Chan Fei Loong in August 2018 and was admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 26th June 2019.

Having completed her pupillage, she continues her practice at the same firm and currently handling conveyancing matters. Ms. Pan was admitted as a partner of the firm on 1st February 2023 and is currently based at our Johor Bahru office.

LEE PENG PENG

LL.B (Hons), UUM

Ms. Lee graduated with a Bachelor of Law from the Universiti Utara Malaysia and was admitted and enrolled to the High Court of Malaya as an Advocate and Solicitor on November 2013.

During her pupillage, Ms. Lee was exposed to property conveyancing for housing projects and loan financing transactions.

Subsequently, Ms. Lee joined Messrs Teh Kim Teh, Salina & Co. at Kota Damansara branch as legal assistant and specialized in handling property conveyancing for housing projects and loan financing transactions, commercial projects and commercial loan financing transactions, and secondary sale transactions.

Ms. Lee joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting on 3 January, 2022 and is currently conveyancing matter.

YAP SAW ENN

LL.B (Hons) University of Liverpool, CLP

Saw Enn completed her LLB (Hons) from University of Liverpool in Year 2017 and her CLP in year 2018. Subsequently, she joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting and commenced her pupillage under the tutelage of Petaling Jaya Branch firm’s partner, Mr Lee Chee Hwa.

She was admitted as an Advocates & Solicitors of the High Court of Malaya in October 2019. She has been exposed to vast experience in many aspects of conveyancing law and practice including sale and purchase agreements, tenancy agreements, loan documentation and other agreements. She is currently practice as an Associate in the Conveyancing Department in Petaling Jaya Branch.

KOH KIAN CHUAN (SAMSON)

LL.B (Hons) Queen’s Belfast, CLP

 

Ms Goh obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Malaya in 2015. She completed her pupilage under the supervision of Mr. Soh Siew Chiang at Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting in Kuala Lumpur. She was admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor to the High Court of Malaya on 22nd July 2016.

During her pupilage, Miss Goh gained exposure to various aspects of conveyancing, including Sale and Purchase Agreements, loan documentation, transmission of estate properties, tenancy agreement and more. She also developed significant experience in handling probate and asset administration matters.

Following the completion of her pupilage, Ms. Goh continues her legal practice as an Associate at Lim Soh & Goonting, where she focused on conveyancing matters.

On 1st January 2025, Ms. Goh was promoted and admitted as a Partner of the firm, where she is based at Head Office.

KOH KIAN CHUAN (SAMSON)

LL.B (Hons) Queen’s Belfast, CLP

 

Mr Samson was conferred a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Queen’s Belfast University in the United Kingdom in year 2016. Thereafter, he attended to Brickfields Asia College for his CLP course and obtained the Certificate of Legal Practice on year 2018.

Mr. Samson her pupillage under the tutelage of Lim Kah Loon in Messrs Andersen & Partners and was called to the Bar on 29th November 2019. During his pupillage period, he has experience in handling various aspects of conveyancing matter, including work relating to Developer Sales and Sub-Sales.

Mr. Samson joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting on 2nd of December 2019 and currently handling conveyancing matters.

PUA JIN HOOI (JES)

LL.B(Hons) University of London, CLP

 

Jes was first admitted to the High Court of Malaya as an Advocate & Solicitors in year 2020 after she obtained her LL.B(Hons) from the University of London in year 2017, her CLP in year 2018, and completing her pupillage in year 2019 under the tutelage of Messrs Lo Chambers.

Jes specializes in the conveyancing practice particularly in the area of sub-sales and loan financing transactions where, during the initial years of her practice, she single-handedly managed the firm’s conveyancing portfolio even during the pandemic.

Jes continues to grow and aspire to expand her conveyancing practice by accepting new challenges. She joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting on 1 July 2022 and currently specializes in conveyancing transactions.

CHONG SIEW MEE

LL.B (Hons) MMU

 

Miss Chong Siew Mee graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from Multimedia University and underwent her pupillage-in-chambers under the guidance of a seasoned Partner in an established law firm in Kuala Lumpur, where she was exposed to conveyancing and banking matters. She would go on to commence her practice at the same firm after her admission as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya from 2012 until 2016.

In the year of 2016, Miss Chong joined United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd (“Bank”) as a Senior Legal Advisor of Group Legal. Her portfolio includes reviewing agreement(s) and providing legal opinion to the Bank’s Retail and Business Banking divisions.

Thereafter, Miss Chong left the Bank to resume her practice as Solicitor at another law firm in Kuala Lumpur prior to 7joining our firm in 2023.

Her current practice includes drafting, negotiation, advising and handling of sales and purchase agreements, tenancy agreements, and loan documentation for various banks in Malaysia (for both retail and business / commercial banking).

CHUA SIEH MANN 

LL.B (Hons) (Staffordshire), MBA(UNE),CLP

 

Ms. Chua read-in-chambers under the guidance of Ms. Ng Soo Chen of Messrs Soo Thien Ming & Nashrah and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 14th September 2001. She obtained her Master in Business Administration in 2003 from the University Of New England, Armidale, New South Wales, Australia.

Since her admission to the Malaysian Bar, and having previously joined Messrs.G.Gunaseelan & Associates (on 17th September 2001) and Messrs. K.B.Chua & Co(on 16th February 2003), she has been exposed to and gained vast experience in many aspects of conveyancing law and practice including sale and purchase agreements, tenancy agreements, loan documentation and joint venture agreements.

ZANARIAH BT ABU ZARIN

LL.B (Hons) University Malaya],LL.M UiTM

 

Pn. Zanariah obtained her LL.B (Hons.) from the University of Malaya and completed her pupilage under En. Azmi Bin Maulud in Messrs Sidek & Co. She was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2004 and commenced practice as a legal assistant in the litigation department of Messrs Rashid Tasin, K.L. Tan & Low.

In 2012, she has completed her course in Master in Law and obtained her LL.M from University Teknologi Mara (UiTM).

Pn. Zanariah has extensive experience and exposure in general civil litigation matters including goods sold and delivered, Hire-Purchase, probate and administration, Bankruptcy and general recovery matters. She has vast experience in many aspect of conveyancing matters including sales and purchase agreement, loan documentation, joint venture agreement and tenancy agreements.

GWEN YOW CHIN LIAN

LL.B (Hons) University Malaya

 

Miss Gwen obtained her LL.B from the University of Malaya and was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1995. She has been in legal practice since then in Klang with Messrs Yong & Rakan-Rakan and Messrs K.C Lim & Teh. She then moved to Kuantan and practised with Messrs Balendran Chong & Bodi for 5 years before deciding to return to practice in the Klang Valley. She worked with Messrs C. S. Tang & Co in Kuala Lumpur before joining us.  

She is well versed in all aspects of Conveyancing transactions viz sale and purchase , joint venture, tenancy and lease, project work, bank loan documentations for consumer loans as well as corporate loans and bridging finance. She has also been involved in corporate work including sale and purchase of shares, sale of Hyatt Kuantan, commercial joint venture and due diligence. She is presently a member of the Disciplinary Committee Panel of the Advocates & Solicitors Disciplinary Board.

RADEHAYATI BINTI JOHATEH

LL.B (Hons) UKM

 

Cik Radehayati graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) with LLB ( Hons) and Diploma in Islamic Judiciary and Syariah Law in 2004 and completed her pupilage under En. Nik Hashim bin Nik Daud in Messrs. Nik Hashim & Associates in Kuala Lumpur. She was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2005. She commenced practice as a Legal Assistant in the Litigation department of Messrs. Charles Hector, assisting in general recovery matters, injunction proceeding, defamation and criminal matters.  

She continued her legal career in Messrs Bala Pillai & Co where she had civil litigation exposure and assisting in accident claims, personal injury claims, medical negligence and garnishee proceedings. In December 2010, she became a partner in the firm of Messrs. Ravi, Lalitha, Radehayati & Co. Throughout her years of practice; she gained considerable exposure and experience in civil and criminal litigation.

She joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting on 1st November 2012 currently handles litigation work.

CHONG GEENG HONG 

LL.B (Hons) University Malaya

 

Miss Chong graduated from the Faculty of Law of University of Malaya in the year of 2011. She completed her pupilage under the guidance of Mr. Ooi Say Lee of Messrs Abraham Ooi & Partners in Kuala Lumpur. She was admitted and enrolled to the High Court of Malaya as an Advocate and Solicitor on 26/04/2012 and thereafter she commenced her legal practice with Messrs Abraham Ooi & Partners in Klang.  

During her tenure with Messrs Abraham Ooi & Partners, Miss Chong was exposed to various aspects of conveyancing matters, including Sale and Purchase Agreement, loan documentation, transmission of estate properties, tenancy agreement, etc.

Miss Chew graduated from Faculty of Law of UKM in the year of 2013 and she underwent her pupillage-in-chambers under the guidance and tutelage of Mr. Lau Kai Leong in September 2013.

During her pupilage, she was exposed to and has gained vast exposure in various aspects of conveyancing works. She was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 7th August 2014 and currently handles conveyancing matters.

NURUL HAZIRAH BINTI JAFRI

Ms Nurul Hazirah Binti Jafri read law at and obtained her LLB from University Utara Malaysia, Kedah. She underwent her pupillage-in-chambers under the guidance of Pn. Nor Zihan Khaila Binti Kamal. During her pupillage, she was exposed to various aspects of civil litigation work consisting of preparing and drafting cause papers, attending court for hearing in chamber and open court on matters covering Banking Laws, Foreclosure, Matrimonial Laws, Land Laws, Contract Laws and general conveyancing matters.

She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 30th September, 2014. In view of her keen interest and dedicated to her work, she was retained as legal assistant to handle litigation work.

CHAY WOAN HUEI (CELENA)

LL.B (Hons) University Malaya

 

Ms Celena Chay has obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Malaya in 2013. Shortly thereafter, she commenced her pupilage in the chambers of Mr. Wong Rhen Yen and she was then admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 20th June 2014. She then started practice at Messrs Ong, Ma & Partners which specializes in general litigation.  

She has experience in handling civil litigation matters particularly in bankruptcy, breach of contract, winding-up, family and matrimonial matters, probate and assets administration matters. She has experience in various court matters from Magistrate Court to Federal Court.  

She has joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting on 1st day of March, 2016 and is currently handling litigation matter.

HOW PEK LEAN (SAM)

Mr. Sam graduated with a Bachelor of Law from the Universiti Utara Malaysia and was admitted and enrolled to the High Court of Malaya as an Advocate and Solicitor on June 2012.  

During his pupillage, Mr. Sam was exposed to general litigation as well as criminal litigation. Further, Mr. Sam was given a chance to assist his Master, Mr.SN Nair in defending one of the most prominent politicians in Malaysia i.e. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahin in Sodomy II trial.  

Subsequently, Mr. Sam joined Messrs Justin Voon Chooi & Wing which specializes in general litigation for 5 years. Throughout the period of 5 years, Mr. Sam has gained extensive experience in all kind of commercial dispute especially dispute between landlord and tenant.  

Mr. Sam joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting on 15 July, 2017 and is currently handling general litigation matter.

KAU HUI NI (WINNIE)

LL.B (Hons) Cardiff University,

Barrister-at-Law, Middle Temple

 

Miss Winnie was conferred a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom in year 2014. Thereafter, she attended to Nottingham Trent University for her Bar Professional Training Course and was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales at the Honorable Society of the Middle Temple in November 2015.  

She began her pupillage under the tutelage of Dato’ Davis Yee Fei Churn in Messrs Davis & Low and was called to the Bar on 25th January 2017 and thereafter continue to practise as a Legal Assistant in the same firm. She has experience in different area of litigation matters particularly in contractual disputes, probate, letter of administration, bankruptcy, divorce and more.

She joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting on 1st July 2018 and currently handling litigation matters.

LIM YONG HENG (WAYNE)

BOJ (Hons) UM; B. HUMANITIES (Hons) USM; MBA UPM; CLP

Mr. Lim read law and obtained his Bachelor of Jurisprudence (Hons) from the University of Malaya in 2005. He obtained his CLP in the same year. He was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2019 thereafter joined Messrs Lim Soh Goonting as an associate.

Prior to reading Law, he graduated from University Science Malaysia with the Bachelor of Humanities (Hons). He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University Putra Malaysia.

He served in the public sector since 1981 in various authorities and departments He was with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, subsequently the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs in assisting enforcement and prosecution of trade laws under its jurisdiction. He joined the Department of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Transport, overseeing the legal and technical service of contract and tender of air traffic management systems and equipment. He was hands on professionally for air traffic control with rating of aerodrome, procedural and radar for area and approach control. He was a qualified professional airspace designer for air traffic navigation system.

In 2011, with his professional qualifications and academic background, he was accorded with the diplomatic status appointed and assigned as the Malaysia Permanent Representative on the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) a specialized agency of United Nations at Montreal, Canada.

He returned to Malaysia in 2018 upon retirement after successfully completed his mission and on extension of service for 2 years contract.

With the years of valuable experience on formulating policies of international civil aviation, he is specialized in safety, security, sustainability of development of aviation, environmental and legal matters related to compliances of ICAO policies by states as well as industry operators. Making quasi-judicial decisions on international civil aviation disputes of member states within the interpretation of Chicago Convention 1944 and all subsidiary regulations or conventions thereto.

He specializes also on IP matters such as Copyrights, Patents, Trademarks and Industrial designs.

TAN JI XUEN

LL.B (Hons) University of London, CLP

 

In the year 2016, Mr. Tan Ji Xuen obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of London. Prior to his sitting for the CLP examination in the year 2019, he was involved in the Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ) Program, an initiative of Malaysia government to capitalize on the confluence and exponential growth of the internet economy and cross-border e-Commerce activities, by introducing and promoting Alibaba.com to business owners throughout Malaysia.  

In March 2020, he joined the firm’s litigation department as a pupil in chamber, under the guidance and tutelage of Mr. Franklin Goonting. Mr. Tan Ji Xuen was admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 19th February 2021. He was retained by the firm and currently handling litigation matters.

TAN WAN TENG

LL.B (Hons) (HULL), Barrister-at-Law, Middle Temple

 

Wan Teng graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Hull. She is a Barrister-at-Law of Middle Temple. She was admitted as an advocate & solicitor of the High Court in Malaya in 2017. Wan Teng underwent her pupillage-in-chambers in Cheang & Ariff and she was involved in areas related to commercial and corporate law as well as finance and property law.  

She then started her practice in Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting as a conveyancing and corporate lawyer. She advises property developers in various aspects of laws relating to the developments of residential and commercial properties in Malaysia. Wan Teng had also worked for one of the top ten Malaysia property developers for four years and thus she is very experienced in handling issues related to local and overseas property market. She was also one of the co-founders of Messrs Kiew & Tan who was actively involved in real property transactions and corporate related matters.

LEE JIUNN KAE (JEFFERY)

LL.B (Hons) Multimedia University

Lee Jiunn Kae (Jeffery) graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honour) from Multimedia University in 2020. He joined the litigation team at Messrs Gideon Tan Razali Zaini for his pupillage. During pupillage, he was exposed to a wide range of civil and commercial litigation matters such as contested probate, contractual disputes, bankruptcy matters, defamation and others.  

Jeffery was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor in October 2021. He joined our firm in December 2021 and currently handling conveyancing portfolio.

SHIU YONG TAT (DARREN)

LL.B (Hons), Northern University of Malaysia

Shiu Yong Tat (Darren) graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honour) from Northern University of Malaysia in 2020 and underwent his pupillage-in-chambers in one of the established law firms in Petaling Jaya. During his pupillage period, he has experience in handling general litigation and conveyancing matters including work relating to Sub-Sales.  

Darren was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2021. Upon admission to the Malaysian Bar, Darren joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting on 8th of November 2021 and currently handling conveyancing matters.

TING YUNN LU (ANDREA)

LLB (Hons) Malaya

Andrea obtained her Bachelor of Laws from University of Malaya in year 2021. She completed her pupillage in year 2021 at Messrs Abraham Ooi & Partners in the Conveyancing and Banking Department and admitted to the High Court of Malaya as an Advocate & Solicitors in year 2021.  

She specializes in the conveyancing practice particularly in the area of housing project, subsale and loan financing transactions.

Andrea continues to grow and aspire to expand her conveyancing practice by accepting new challenges. She joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting in July 2022 and currently specializes in conveyancing transactions.

CHONG SOOK VOON

LL.B (Hons), UUM

Sook Voon has been practicing as an Advocate & Solicitor since 2013 and has extensive experiences in corporate and conveyancing legal practice.  

Sook Voon has been providing end to end legal advice on a wide variety of matters in relation to property development, joint venture, acquisition & disposal of real estate and leasing of commercial/retail lots. She also represents major local and international banks and financial institutions for both conventional and Islamic banking transactions.

Besides, she also handles Joint Petition for Divorce, writes Will, drafting Deed of Family Arrangement, and handling the application of Grant of Probate and Grant of Letter of Administration in the High Court of Malaya.

Currently, she is handling the conveyancing portfolio in Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting.

LING WEI LIN

LL.B (Hons), UUM

Wei Lin completed her LLB (Hons) from Northern University of Malaysia in 2021. Subsequently, she joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting and commenced her pupillage under the tutelage of the firm’s senior partner, Mr Ting Hea Hong. During the pupilage, she was exposed to and involved in a wide range of conveyancing matters.  

Wei Lin was admitted as an Advocates & Solicitors of the High Court of Malaya in August 2022. She is currently practice as an Associate in the Conveyancing Department in head office.

MUHAMMAD IKHLAS BIN MOHD SHAFE’E

LL.B (Hons), IIUM

Muhammad Ikhlas graduated with Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in March 2021. He joined Messrs. Lim Soh & Goonting as a pupil under the tutelage of Puan Rosehayati binti Yusof.  

He was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 20th January 2023 and is now a legal assistant at Messrs. Lim Soh & Goonting.

During his pupillage, he was exposed to varied conveyancing portfolios including drafting and preparing various documentations pertaining to sale and purchase agreements, transfer and loan documentations, handling matters related to the land office and attending to clients as to assist them in their respective transactions. Additionally, he also handled civil litigation matters including probate matters, accident cases and debt collection.

CHONG JIA YI

Kelly read law at Multimedia University and graudated with a Bachelor of Law degree in the year of 2021. During the course of her tertiary education, she had undergone internship training at Messrs. Ng Kee Way & Co. She was given chance to handle general litigation area, particularly in family and matrimonial matters.  

Kelly commenced her pupilage under the tutelage of partner of the Firm, Ms. To Shey Feang in Messrs. Lim Soh & Goonting. She was admitted and enrolled to the High Court of Malaya as an Advocate and Solicitor on January 2023. Having completed her pupillage, she continues her practice in Messrs. Lim Soh & Goonting and is currently handling conveyancing matters.

KIU KWONG KIAT

LL.B (Hons) Oxford Brookes University, UK

Kiu Kwong Kiat (Jack) graduated with a LL.B (Hons) from the Oxford Brookes University, UK. He then joined Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting and completed his pupilage in Lim Soh & Goonting under the tutelage of Ms. To Shey Feang at the Yee Seng branch. During the pupilage, he was exposed to and involved in a wide range of conveyancing matters in handling the Sale and Purchase Agreement, Loan Documentations and other conveyancing matters.  

He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in February 2023. He is currently practice at Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting and handling conveyancing matters.

TANG THENG MENG

BOJ (Hons) UM; B. Agric (Hons) UPM; MBA (UPM); CLP; CIL.

Mr. Thomas read law and obtained his Bachelor of Jurisprudence (Hons) from University of Malaya in year 2016. He obtained his CLP in the year of 2021. He was called to the Bar in 2023 thereafter Joined Messrs Lim Soh Goonting as an associate.  

Prior to reading law, he graduated from University Pertanian Malaysia with the Bachelor of Agriculture (Hons). He also hold a Master of Business Administration from University Putra Malaysia.

He served in the banking industry since 1992 to 2020. The two commercial bank he was attached were Public Bank Berhad and CIMB Bank Berhad.

He is currently attached to head office of Messrs Lim Soh Goonting and handling the firm’s conveyancing works.

SEAN KOH WEH SHYAN

LL.B (Hons) Multimedia University

Mr. Sean Koh Wen Shyan read law and obtained his Bachelor of Law (Hons) degree from Multimedia University Malacca in 2022. He underwent his legal attachment programme at Messrs Phang & Partners of which he had established a solid foundation of basic practical legal skills. He later completed his pupillage at Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting under the guidance of the firm’s partner, Ms. Goh Hweh Chen. He was then admitted to the High Court of Malaya as an advocate and solicitor on 21st September 2023.  

During his pupilage, he was exposed to various fields of conveyancing such as drafting sale and purchase agreements, tenancy agreements, deed of gifts, supplementary agreements, wills, and etc. He was also exposed to the whole process of the preparation of loan documents of multiple banks, from initial preparations to advising drawdowns, complying with each bank’s requirements and standards. In addition, he was also tasked in obtaining grant of probate in High Court as well as obtaining distribution orders for small estate distribution. In terms of corporate and commercials, he was tasked to handle commercial loans from various companies, which includes the vetting of multiple resolutions.

Currently, Mr. Sean is practicing as a legal associate at Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting Malacca branch and his range of legal services includes all the above-mentioned as well as negotiating, advising and ensuring his clients’ interests is well protected.

LIM HUI WANG

LL.B (Hons), MMU

Mr. Lim Hui Wang graduated with a Bachelor of Law from Multimedia University Melaka Campus and was admitted and enrolled to the High Court of Malaya in November 2021.  

Mr. Lim completed his pupillage under Messrs. Koo Chin Nam & Co. and he was exposed to conveyancing matters such as Perfection of Transfer and Charge, Discharge of Charge.

Then, Mr. Lim gained experience under Messrs. Joseph Ting & Co. for Developer-sale on housing projects and Loan Documentation on various banks.

Subsequently, Mr. Lim joined Messrs. Wong Wei Fan & Co. as legal assistant specialized in various types of Sub-sale matters, Agreement Drafting, Loan Documentation for individual as well as corporate and commercial, application for state consent and refinancing.

Mr. Lim joined Messrs. Lim Soh & Goonting on 09.10.2023 and continues his practice as legal assistant under conveyancing matters until to-date.

LIM PEI WEI

LL.B (Hons) London , CLP

Ms. Lim Pei Wei graduated with a Bachelor of Law from University of London and was admitted and enrolled to the High Court of Malaya in October 2023.  

She has completed her pupillage with Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting under the guidance of the firm’s partner, Ms. Tam See Moi.

Ms. Lim gained experience as a paralegal under Messrs. Pretam Singh, Nor & Co. for direct sale from Developer on housing projects and various banking Loan Documentation before joining Messrs. Lim Soh & Goonting.

Ms. Lim is currently practicing as a legal assistant under conveyancing matters until to-date.

LAI SHOK YANN

LL.B (Hons) London, CLP

Shok Yann graduated with a Bachelor of Law (Hons) from University of London in 2021 and thereafter obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice in 2022. She then commenced her pupillage at Messrs. Lim Soh & Goonting under the tutelage of one of of the partners of the Firm, Ms. To Shey Feang, focusing on conveyancing and real estate matters for the firm where she is involved in the drafting and preparation of sale and purchase agreements, perfection of transfer and charge as well as loan documentations for panel banks such as Public Bank Berhad, RHB Bank Berhad and United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd.  

Prior to joining Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting, Shok Yann worked as a paralegal in Messrs Low & Fong where she was exposed to a wide range of areas of practice, ranging from drafting of corporate agreements, resolving general civil litigation dispute matters to real estate conveyancing transactions. After completing her pupillage and subsequently called to the bar in early 2024, she was then retained as a legal associate in the firm where she continues to practice in the real estate conveyancing department.

SYAHIRA NADIA BINTI SANUSI

LL.B (Hons), IIUM

Syahira graduated with LLB (Hons) from International Islamic University Malaysian (IIUM) in 2018. She began her pupillage in 2019 and at the same time she took a part time postgraduate course at IIUM. She then graduated with Diploma in Shariah Legal Practice (DSLP) in 2020. She was called to the Bar in August 2020 thereafter joined Messrs Qarliff & Associates as legal associate where she handled conveyancing works particularly subsale and loan financing transactions.  

Syahira is currently practising at Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting and handling conveyancing matter.

MOHD NORHISAM BIN ISMAIL

Mohd Norhisam Bin Ismail graduated with a Bachelor of Law (Hons) from National University of Malaysia in 2000. He then commenced his pupillage at Messrs Gana Muthusamy & Co under tutelage of Mr Gana Muthusamy.  

Prior to joining Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting, Mohd Norhisam worked as a Legal Assistant at Messrs L.Parthiban & Associates and Partner at Messra Faizul Hilmy & Chew where he was exposed to a wide range of areas of practice, ranging from drafting of corporate agreements, resolving general civil litigation dispute matters to real estate conveyancing transactions.

NURUL SYAFIQAH BINTI ZAMRI

Nurul Syafiqah graduated with a Bachelor of Law (Hons) from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in 2021 and subsequently obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice in the same year. She then commenced her pupillage at Messrs. Zulpadli & Edham under the tutelage of one of the partners of the firm, Mr. Azizul Ashraf bin Abdul Aziz, focusing on banking litigation matters. During her time there, she was involved in auctions and inspections at the High Court and Land Office, as well as attending hearings at the High Court for banking litigation cases.  

Prior to joining Messrs. Lim Soh & Goonting, Nurul Syafiqah worked as a Legal Assistant at Messrs. Azmi Hussain & Co, where she was exposed to a wide range of practice areas, including the drafting of corporate agreements and real estate conveyancing transactions.

In August 2024, she joined our firm as a Legal Assistant and was assigned to the real estate conveyancing department.

NURAIN KHALIDAH BINTI KHALIL

LL.B (Hons) UiTM

Nurain Khalidah graduated with a Bachelor of Law (Hons) from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in 2023 and subsequently obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice on 8th July 2024. She then commenced her pupillage at Messrs. Rhubinii Nataraja & Co. under the tutelage of Ms. Rhubinii A/P Nataraja, focusing on civil litigation matters. During her time there, she was entrusted in preparing and handling civil litigation, and family law cases, as well as attending hearings at the High Court for divorce cases.  

In September 2024, she joined our firm as a Legal Assistant and was assigned to the Project Developer conveyancing department.

ZALODIA BINTI RAMLI

LL.B (Hons) IIUM

Zalodia graduated with a Bachelor of La (Hons) from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in September 2002. She commenced her pupillage at Messrs. Ishak Sharif & Co. under Mr Amerul Muner. She has been exposed to general civil litigation and conveyancing matters during her pupillage. She was admitted to the Malaysian Bar on Feb, 2004 and started her career at Messrs C. Sukumaran & Co. focusing on banking litigation matters. After two (2) years, she joined Messrs Tea, Kelvin Kang & Co. focusing on conveyancing matters and assisting banking litigation. Prior to joining Messrs Lim, Soh & Goonting, Zalodia worked as a Legal Assistant at Messrs Yong & Rajah focusing on conveyancing matters.  

In October, 2024, she joined our firm as a Legal Assistant and assigned to the real estate conveyancing department.

LIM JIA LENG

LL.B (Hons) Queen’s University Belfast, CLP

Ms. Lim Jia Leng read law and graduated with a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) from Queen’s University Belfast. Shen then obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) in 2023.

She began her legal career as a pupil in chambers at Messrs Lim Soh & Goonting, under the guidance of Ms. Goh Jia Yi. In 2024, she was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.

Ms. Lim currently manages conveyancing matters at the firm’s head office, including but not limited to Sale and Purchase Agreements, Loan Agreements and transmission of estate properties.
